"Payment 2.0" offers golf clubs new options for payment processing

The simplification of electronic payment processes is currently driving the golf industry. The focus here is on the fully automated management of booking and administrative processes. As part of this automation, customers are to be given the opportunity to enjoy a professional customer experience outside the customer service desk’s opening hours.

In close cooperation with the Hummelbachaue Golf Club, PC CADDIE has implemented the following options and parameters in the flagship ‘Payment 2.0’ project:

  1. Different cancellation deadlines for online bookings made by members and guests.
  2. Rounds of golf with a tee time before or after opening hours (8.30 am – 6.00 pm) can only be paid for online.
  3. During opening hours, on-site payment can also be selected during the booking process.
  4. Hummelbachaue is now also the first golf course to introduce the new payment method “charge to customer account”. This allows a booking to be paid for directly via the local customer account (e.g. OP) if a corresponding direct debit authorisation is in place for this purpose.

For Elena Huth, manager of the Hummelbachaue golf course, it was important that outside regular opening hours, the PC CADDIE://online app not only offers booking options but also ensures that payment or cancellation can be handled directly by the customer. It is advantageous to be able to offer different cancellation periods and payment methods. PC CADDIE://online enables a digital service centre that expands the service offered to customers without losing customer contact during opening hours. “The newly introduced option allowing customers to use our services on account via a SEPA direct debit mandate increases customer loyalty and simplifies payment for the customer,” explains Elena Huth. In doing so, she keeps a close eye on the course’s profitability: “In future, it is important to us to offer services in a way that conserves resources as much as possible – for the sake of the environment! PC CADDIE://online offers ideal solutions for this. Many thanks to Mr Heck and his team for their fantastic support and prompt implementation!”

The Managing Director of PC CADDIE://online, Axel Heck, emphasises that this project opens the door to a multitude of new possibilities in e-payment: “The ‘Payment 2.0’ project demonstrates the options available to golf clubs for further automating and professionalising the customer experience. In times of a skills shortage, this can ease the workload on the secretariats, creating a win-win situation for both the customer and the golf club.” PC CADDIE would like to thank various innovation drivers in this field, including St. Urbanus Golf Club, Gut Heckenhof Golf Club and the Clubgolfgruppe in Switzerland, who are supporting the project with testing and feedback.
