Initiative 1: Database Migration to MariaDB(2023–2027)
- Why MariaDB: As a proven, modern standard solution, MariaDB offers higher reliability and best-in-class performance. Its transaction security and scalability enable faster workflows in club operations.
- Concrete Benefits: Standard SQL enables flexible reporting solutions and data analysis. Clubs gain more flexibility for individual evaluations, while partners can develop integrations more easily. Regular releases and long-term maintenance ensure future-proofing.
- Secure Migration: The transition is fully compatible and gradual – without any interruption to day-to-day operations. All existing functions and interfaces remain fully operational throughout the entire migration. Extensive testing and pilot phases ensure a smooth transition.
- Technical Foundation: MariaDB supports all modern development environments and is therefore the ideal foundation for the planned web frontend. Broad connector support enables seamless integration into modern IT landscapes.

- Why a Web Frontend: Operating directly in the browser enables location-independent access. Staff and board members can work from anywhere – whether in the office, working from home, or on the go. Updates are applied centrally, without needing to update each workstation individually.
- Step-by-Step Migration: Proven features are transferred to the web module by module – without loss of functionality. Clubs can work alongside the existing desktop application and benefit from the best of both worlds. Critical processes remain available at all times, while new features are added progressively.
- Future-Proof Architecture: Modern web technologies enable seamless integration of APIs, third-party services, and new features. The foundation for hybrid cloud solutions is established without putting existing on-premise installations at risk.
