“It all began with the DOS version, and the journey continues in the digital age”

The Schloss Wilkendorf Golf Club has been in existence since 1997, and Andrea Scheffler has been the heart and soul of the office for just as long. She’s been there from the very start. You could even say that 2022 marks their silver anniversary. “As far as I’m concerned,” she jokes, “it could easily be another 25 years. Because even outside of my day-to-day work, I’ve developed a great many friendly relationships with our members. I know everyone, and everyone knows me. So I don’t just work here – I live here.”

The affection Andrea Scheffler enjoys internally extends to green fee players and organisers of sponsored tournaments alike. Naturally, the 42-hole golf course just outside Berlin is a real draw. Spanning 220 hectares, it nestles into the hills of Märkische Schweiz and makes it clear at first glance why it ranks among the 100 most beautiful courses in Europe. The course is thoughtfully integrated into the gently undulating terrain shaped by nature, and course designer Sandy Lyle has also incorporated the centuries-old trees. But the management of the course is just as important. “We are committed and professional,” explains Andrea Scheffler. “The reliability of the PC CADDIE system plays a key role in this. “I remember very clearly that we initially worked with the DOS version, and today everything is becoming more digital. PC CADDIE is evolving just as we are. The potential of digitalisation is far from being fully exploited. Together, we will implement the best solutions.”

To ensure this succeeds, the 48-year-old maintains regular contact with the experts at PC CADDIE. “Whereas over 20 years ago at PC CADDIE every employee did practically everything, today we work with experts who possess core competencies. So I know exactly who to contact if I need to clarify specific questions.” When you can look back over such a long period as Andrea Scheffler has, there are naturally plenty of anecdotes and memorable experiences; for instance, a hacker attack that crashed the server, or being offline for two days because the login details no longer worked. “It is precisely in such crisis moments that trust pays off. With PC CADDIE, we have managed to overcome such challenges.”

When Andrea Scheffler isn’t at ‘her’ golf course, she regularly works on her fitness at the gym. ‘That helps with playing golf, but also with the concentration needed at work,’ she says, and then the phone rings again and she answers, just as she has done for the past 25 years: ‘Golfpark Schloss Wilkendorf, Andrea Scheffler speaking.’
