Growing up on the golf course, now in management: Carolin Lessau and PC CADDIE
At the age of ten, Carolin stands on a stool behind the bar at Gut Glinde. Her hands are too small for the large telephone, but her voice is all the more determined: “Golf Gut Glinde, hello!” Next to her lie scorecards, neatly sorted, ready for the tournament players, whom she is about to greet with a sincere “have a good game”. Back then, no one – perhaps not even she herself – could have guessed that these early moments spent between the counter, tournament lists and ringing telephones would lay the foundation for an extraordinary career.
Today, 22 years later, Carolin Lessau opens the PC CADDIE club software with the same ease with which she used to pick up the receiver as a child. The interface, once a mystery, has long since become her professional tool: familiar, precise, strategic. What was once playful curiosity is now digital leadership expertise in modern golf course management. Why? Carolin Lessau embodies, like few others, the combination of a deep-rooted understanding of golf courses and contemporary, technology-driven course management. Having grown up in the family business, Golf Gut Glinde, she developed an early feel for service culture, member communication and the unique aspects of a golf club that is far more than just a sports venue: it is a social hub, a host and a business all at once.
After completing her A-levels, she studied Hotel and Tourism Management (BA) in Schwerin. Internships at A-ROSA Scharmützelsee and Robinson Club Nobilis sharpened her eye for hospitality processes, customer experience and event management. In Bad Saarow, she came into contact with PC CADDIE once again – a system that would later become one of her key tools. At the Jakobsberg Hotel & Golf Resort, she took on responsibilities in the secretariat, worked her way systematically through the entire PC CADDIE documentation wiki and developed remarkable software expertise. When a long-standing colleague at Golf Gut Glinde left, Carolin took over her duties without hesitation – a move that took her back from the Koblenz region to Hamburg within a month, back into the heart of the family business.
What Carolin particularly values about PC CADDIE is the immediate, personal support: “There’s always someone available – and a solution comes straight away.” For her, the system is “incredibly comprehensive” and an integral part of professional golf course management: from tournament management and membership and accounts to digital services for guests and members. At the same time, she boldly calls for further progress: she would like to see digital contract signatures and an even more comprehensive digitalisation of administrative processes. The girl who once stood on a stool behind the counter has become a manager who now shapes the structures behind the scenes: knowledgeable, empathetic, digitally savvy and with a deep understanding of the culture of a golf course that is also her home.
