“PC CADDIE was the best idea of my life!”

Some people leave their mark on a company not only through their work, but also through their personality. Jochen Bitschene is undoubtedly one of them. After 15 years in the support team at PC CADDIE, we will be saying goodbye to him on 1 April 2026 as he embarks on a well-deserved new chapter in his life. He certainly won’t be bored: Jochen has been happily married for 35 years and is now even a grandfather of two boys. Squash and badminton used to be part of his sporting routine – and who knows, perhaps he’ll have a bit more time for them again.

The path to PC CADDIE was a long par 5 that Jochen Bitschene played as a birdie: he has been part of the PC CADDIE family since May 2010 – and that is exactly how he has always approached his work: personally, approachably and with an open ear for the people on the other end of the line. His most important task was to help our customers, support them and communicate with them. And anyone who knew Jochen knows this: he had a special talent for quickly understanding what a customer really needed.

Jochen originally worked at a marketing and market research firm, where he learnt to programme and carried out standard analyses. After stints at the Mannheim/Viernheim and Lobenfeld golf courses, Jochen moved to the software provider Albatros, where he worked for ten years, delivered training courses and eventually took over as head of support. But when changes began to loom there, it was clear to him: if he was to stay in the golf industry, it had to be an environment that really suited him. So he applied to PC CADDIE. A dinner meeting with company founder Benedikt Schmedding followed – and the very next day, the decision was made: this is where I want to work. A decision that Jochen himself later described as one of his best ideas.

Even after officially retiring at the age of 66 two years ago, Jochen stayed on with us and continued to support the support team – particularly on Mondays and Tuesdays. But over time, he felt a growing desire to take better care of himself, to have more space for himself and to enjoy his own rhythm. In 2025 he cut back a little, in 2026 a little more – and now the time has come to bid a final farewell to the daily grind.

And Jochen probably won’t be saying goodbye to the world of golf altogether anyway: he can certainly still imagine doing the odd bit of PC CADDIE consultancy on the side.

By the way: one in three employees at PC CADDIE has been with the family business for over 15 years!
