Marie Bauhuber: Playing golf clockwise and anti-clockwise

It all began 33 years ago with an unusual idea: a farmer from Patting wanted to build a golf course – without ever having swung a club himself. This bold vision gave rise to a family business that is now one of the most exciting golf courses in Germany. His daughter, Marie Bauhuber, took over the reins in 2009. With great passion and an unwavering pioneering spirit, she has since continued her father’s legacy as club manager and owner of the course. Her driving force: making golf accessible to everyone whilst combining tradition with innovation.

In 2017, Marie Bauhuber made a splash in the German golfing world: she commissioned the construction of Germany’s first and, to date, only reversible golf course – a concept that, apart from this, exists only once in the whole of Europe, in Holland. Her course can be played either clockwise or anti-clockwise, ensuring a constantly fresh playing experience. “The golfers think it’s brilliant – every day is a little adventure,” she says proudly. The Reversible course is complemented by the Kampenwand course, a 9-hole layout that enables a fast, short game and motivates beginners whilst challenging experienced players. Together, they form an 18-hole course that meets the highest international standards whilst blending harmoniously into the natural surroundings.

But REVERSIBLE GOLF PATTING is not only a pioneer in terms of scenery and sport – the course is also breaking new ground in terms of organisation. From the very start, Marie has relied on digitalisation. Her partner in this: PC CADDIE. “We’ve always used PC CADDIE – and for me it was clear: only with a partner like this can I go down the digital route.” Today, much of the process is paperless: membership applications, bookings for courses and tournaments. “In future,” hopes Marie Bauhuber, “payment for events of all kinds should also be digital,” thereby setting PC CADDIE a “personal task” as they move towards a shared future. This digital openness makes the course both modern and approachable: straightforward, user-friendly and service-oriented. In this way, a traditional family-run business of yesteryear is becoming a golf club of the future.

The last few years have not been easy. The pandemic posed a challenge to the REVERSIBLE GOLF PATTING course. But instead of giving up, Marie Bauhuber used the time to refine processes, gather ideas and make plans. Now it’s time to get going and never lose your head: clockwise and anti-clockwise.
