38, 39, 40: Live scoring at ‘club championships’ is becoming increasingly popular

Club championships are more than just a tournament for golf clubs. They are a major organisational challenge. This year’s experience has shown that PC CADDIE’s digital solutions can make a real difference.

One thing is certain: club championship days are when a great deal comes together on a golf course: ambitious players, full tee times, close finishes, play-offs – and tournament organisers who must keep on top of everything at all times. These figures speak in favour of using PC CADDIE: 1,648 tournament rounds were played and just under 43,000 eScoring codes were generated. The database contains a total of around 500 tournaments with the title ‘Club Championship’. In addition, PC CADDIE supported the clubs with around 40 live scoring events.

When ‘live’ really means live

The example of the KölnGolf golf course demonstrates just how well digital scoring with PC CADDIE needs to work at the crucial moment. There, the club championship was conducted entirely using eScoring over three days. The live scoring feature in particular impressed those in charge:

Unsurprisingly, the positive feedback didn’t come solely from the tournament organisers. The members were also delighted. She adds: “Our members would now like to have this feature at all our major tournaments.”

Technology must work when it matters

However, the club championships also demonstrated that digitalisation must, above all, be suitable for everyday use. When hundreds of players complete their rounds over three days, every process counts. Every extra click, every unnecessary data entry and every minor disruption eventually becomes a burden – for players as well as for the club’s staff.

Janine Manger sums up just
how important personal support is, particularly during a hectic tournament weekend, with a remarkably candid comment: “It really helped me to know that PC CADDIE’s personal support was there in the background whenever I was running around like a headless chicken.”
