At the age of 21, he became Germany's youngest club manager—today, at 27, Jannik Oster is at the helm of the Cochem/Mosel Golf Club and embodies a new generation of leaders in golf. His story shows how curiosity, courage, and passion can make all the difference.
He discovered golf at the age of ten and has been shaping club life ever since. In the beginning, he served on the board as youth representative for a long time. He rarely gets to use his 5.0 handicap on the course anymore. That's because Jannik Oster is a "knowledge bear": He has more than ten qualifications, including the GMVD Certified Club Manager CCM 4 license, the DOSB Club Manager B license, the DOSB C-Trainer Golf license, and is completing three further training courses at the IST Study Institute: Sports Economist (FH), Sports Business Manager (IHK), and Golf Business Manager. "I learn something new every day. For me, further training is not an extra, but a basic requirement when you are responsible for an entire club," he emphasizes.
Oster is currently club manager AND head greenkeeper. This means he works from "six to six" every day, he says with a youthful smile and seemingly boundless energy. His working day is characterized by versatility – and digital thinking. As a "digital native," he sees the opportunities that modern technologies offer for member retention and organization. Whether it's a WhatsApp channel for the community or digital member management, Oster uses tools that create proximity and simplify processes.
When choosing club software, his requirement was clear: the highest level of professionalism. "We looked at the market and quickly realized that PC CADDIE is the market leader. That's why we immediately purchased additional licenses after taking over the facility in 2020," he explains. Today, PC CADDIE not only handles member management, but also the cash register system for the pro shop, green fee processing, and the booking systems for the golf trainers and the indoor simulator. He describes his contact with PC CADDIE as "super friendly and professional—exactly as you would want it to be."
With three employees, Oster looks after the approximately 500 members and numerous green fee players who either "come over" from the neighboring holiday park or "take a vacation with us" as Moselle tourists. For Oster, it is crucial that the golf club is welcoming and appeals to new target groups: "Our USP is that everyone is welcome – from vacationers to young people from the region. We want to reach a broad audience and make golf accessible to everyone."
With his energy and openness to new ideas, Jannik Oster has already developed the Cochem/Mosel Golf Club into a modern, lively meeting place – and makes it clear how much future there is in golf when you approach it with passion, the courage to break new ground, and digital know-how – including PC CADDIE.
