APPsolutely brilliant – a review of GC Emstal: administration simplified, members delighted
Four tournaments a week, more than 1,000 members and around 20 volunteers helping to organise the tournaments: there’s a lot to organise at Emstal Golf Club e. V. Since the introduction of PC CADDIE and the PC CADDIE app, this has become noticeably easier. After the first full season, club manager Matthias Dietrich is convinced: “Digitalisation takes the strain off the administration whilst also improving the service for members and guests.”
Around 99.9 per cent of members were able to use the app straight away without any significant assistance. “The real-time aspect and the versatility of the app won people over straight away,” explains Matthias Dietrich: “Tournament results, flight allocations, member details and Handicap changes are available with just a few clicks. Even members who didn’t take part in the tournament themselves can view the results. The new interface, with its clearly visible hotkeys, has also been well received. The PC CADDIE app is straightforward and virtually self-explanatory, regardless of age or time of day. The average age of members is around 53.”

Digitalisation creates freedom
The benefits of the PC CADDIE app are
particularly evident in the club office. Start lists can be created quickly and players’ preferences easily accommodated. Matthias Dietrich comments: “Notices and registration lists on the noticeboard are a thing of the past.With around four tournaments a week, the time saved really adds up. We save 10 to 15 working hours a week, which can now be used for member support or bookkeeping.” For this member-run club, this reduction in workload is particularly valuable. Around 20 volunteers support the organisation of tournaments, whilst the club office operates with the equivalent of about one and a half full-time staff members. “We need fewer volunteers for administrative tasks and therefore have more time for the people,” says Dietrich.
Simple processes – for guest players too
It is not only members who benefit
from the digital possibilities. Green fee players can also use the service with ease. Even guests from neighbouring clubs can access the information they need without having to ring in advance.In this way, PC CADDIE also supports the Emstal Golf Club’s aim of offering its members and guests a modern service. The 18-hole course is one of the region’s most popular destinations.
Experience that makes a difference
From Matthias Dietrich’s perspective, two things were crucial
to the successful roll-out: thorough preparation and expert support. Dietrich expressly praises the support provided by PC CADDIE. In particular, he says the support from Stephanie Sonntag and Kerstin Mäscher is “truly commendable”. The software provider’s many years of expertise are clearly evident in day-to-day operations: “As a new customer, we can immediately feel the benefit of over 20 years’ expertise. Everything runs smoothly and, above all, is tailored to golf.”
After the first season, the club manager’s verdict is clear: the switch has not only worked from a technical point of view, but has also transformed day-to-day operations. Less administration, less paperwork and less time spent on tasks – and in return, better service and more time for members.
Because sometimes, the best news is simply that everything is running smoothly.
